Spring is here!

Every year the weather starts getting warmer, flowers start popping up (hi allergies) and we start getting excited for the warmer weather. Aaaaand then it gets cold again. No bother, I am staying positive and inspired. During the winter months I began designing this cute little tank top as part of the #HobbiiBloom campaign.

Design

The idea is to get inspired and excited for the spring. I had been eyeing the dandelion stitch for a while, and the simplest idea came to my mind when I heard about this prompt. I wanted to replicate the look of flowers blooming from the hem to the upper part of the top, by slowly reducing the amount of these little dandelions in the rows. Simple but effective! While this is knit top up in the round, you do have to separate the top and back to knit it as a tank top, with the back side longer and narrower. You then finish it off with i-cord straps and an i-cord edge too.

Don’t worry though! The Dandelion Stitch is very simple and fun, I made a little tutorial for you if you’ve never made it before:

Yarn

Because this is a warm weather pattern, I wanted to use a cotton yarn that was comfortable and airy. You could knit this in wool too if you wanted to, but after trying Hobbii Yarn’s 8/4 Rainbow Cotton, I wouldn’t knit it any other way. I don’t always like cotton yarn as it’s rougher and tends to lose its shape, but this yarn doesn’t have any of those issues. It’s super easy to work with, very light, and even though it’s fingering weight, it actually works pretty fast! They have every color you can think of, I am already planning on knitting a second one in a pale yellow.

Because I partnered with Hobbii Yarn, you can get a full kit for this project including yarn and pdf pattern directly on their website. Click here for the kit.
