Colorwork Knitting Tutorial

Stranded colorwork or fair isle knitting, is a technique in which 2 or more colors are used to create a color pattern. In this technique, you switch between colors, holding the strand or strands of colors you are not using in the back of the work, and carrying over your work. It’s a technique used a lot to create colorful sweaters, hats, mittens and more, used in many parts of the world.

It might seem intimidating but with some practice you will find it’s an easy technique. Find below a step-by-step tutorial that will walk you through how to introduce a new color strand, how to carry it over, and how to use continental and english style knitting at the same time for ease of knitting.
