Scrappy Quilted Zipper Pouch Tutorial

I don’t know about you but when it comes to sewing scraps, I’m always in a conundrum. I don’t have enough to make something big, or they are too small, but I also feel bad throwing them away. So I just have a small bag full of scraps that I don’t know what to do with.

Recently I told myself I couldn’t keep these scraps forever and I needed to find projects to use them up. The scrappy sewing series was born. The first project in the series also took me into my newly found territory of quilting. I found a few simple tutorials online, and I gave it my own twist.

Using scraps, you can put together pouches of all sizes. It’s completely up to you and the amount of scraps or the different shapes and sizes that you have or that you can make with them. Because they are quilted, you use double the amount of scraps (lining!) and they are pretty sturdy little bags. I started to use them for gifts as well as for myself to keep things lying around like medicine bottles, lip balms and other things. I’m also using up some random zippers that had been passed down to me.

I put together a video tutorial to walk you through my process, so you too can put those sewing scraps to work and make a bunch of these adorable pouches!
